Layering actives without irritating your skin

5 min read

Most irritation isn't caused by a single active — it's caused by stacking three strong ones in the same routine before your skin has adapted to any of them.

A simple split: vitamin C and SPF in the morning, retinol at night, exfoliating acids on the nights you skip retinol. Give each new active two to three weeks before adding the next.

If your skin barrier already feels compromised — tight, flaky, reactive to everything — pause actives entirely and run a barrier-repair week with just a ceramide cream.
